Free books!

There’s no shame in liking to read as many books as you can for free, as long as you’re getting those free books through legitimate channels. (AKA not pirate sites) Because I’ll always be a reader first, I try to make sure I can offer books free or at a discount as often as possible. ATM I have THREE books you can download for #free.

Holding On

This is the first book in the Holding On series. It’s also the first book I ever publish. The series is young-adult with characters that are in high school in book 1, college in book 2 and living their adult lives in books 3 and 4. The characters grew and mature throughout the series and I think my favorite book is the last book as you get to see how life turns out for everyone. You can snag Holding On from the following platforms

Amazon USAmazon CAAmazon UKAmazon AU

Barnes & NobleiBooks

Rumors: Emerson & Ryder

What? The first book in the Rumors series is free already? But it’s only been out for 7 months! Yep, you read that right. If you search for it on Amazon, you’ll see it for $2.99. However, if you have the special link for BookFunnel you can download it for free. It’s my gift to you. There are only 100 copies available so if you haven’t started the series and want to, I’d snag it now.

GIVE ME GOSSIP!!!

Rumors: Audra & Jason

Never heard of these people. Who are they?

Well, after I completed the Rumors series I felt like Audra, Justine’s roommate, had her own story to tell. She’s not part of the Dixon family so instead of adding another book to the series, I’m writing a newsletter only novella. In order to read her story, you have to be a subscriber. If you do sign up, make sure you send me a message using the Contact page here and I’ll get you caught up. Chapters 1-3 have already gone out and Chapters 4 and 5 hit inboxes on Monday.

Latest Releases, NEW RELEASE, sneak peaks

Lots and lots of dirty sex…

Oh, my! Megan and Vinnie’s book is going to knock your socks off. These two… I just don’t know what to say. They’re perfect for each other in every way. They compliment the other person, really get who they are and the road they’ve traveled. Without judgment.

And Vinnie makes me laugh.

Here’s a little sneak peak of Megan and Vinnie’s story…

“And by companionship you mean…”
“Sex. Lots and lots of dirty sex.”
If nothing else, Vinnie’s honest. Too honest. But he makes me laugh at the same time. It’s nice to be able to talk to someone who isn’t judging me for my past. Who understands it. Who’s been there and came out the other side with battle wounds that aren’t defining his every decision in life.
“Is that something you’re interested in, Megan?”
“Are you propositioning me, Mr. Redding?”
“Don’t do that.”
“Do what?”
“Call me by my last name. It turns me on, and unless you are propositioning me, I’ll have to take care of him myself, and that doesn’t bring me the satisfaction I’m looking for.”
“So you only wanted to give me a ride home so you could try and get a ride?”
“No, I gave you a ride home because I wanted to get to know you, and if the car was moving, you wouldn’t be able to run away from me. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love a ride from you. And just to be crystal clear, yes, I’m propositioning you because I can tell you want it as much as I do.”
“Is that why you’ve circled my block three times now? Because if you stop the car you think I’ll run?”
“Nope. Just waiting for an answer.”
“And if I don’t give you one?”
“I can drive in circles all night and enjoy just sitting next to you in the car. You’re choice.”
“What if I don’t know what I want?”
He thinks it over for a minute, and as we approach my house for the fourth time, he actually pulls up and parks on the street. He makes no motion to turn the car off or to keep me from leaving.
“The way I see it, we have two options. One, you can invite me in and we can have amazing sex until neither of us can walk a straight line.”
“Or?”
“Or you can invite me in and we can keep this conversation going.”
“No sex?”
“Not unless you ask me nicely,” he states, his voice taking a serious tone, contradicting the smirk on his face.
I don’t think I’d have to ask nicely to get what I want from him.

2018 RONE Awards

HAPPY, HAPPY MONDAY!!!

What a way to start a new week, right? Talking about things that make you feel good, like book awards.

Any time I’ve been nominated for an award I’ve been consumed with this overwhelming feeling of gratitude. Why? Someone read my book. Someone loved my book. Not only that, they REMEMBERED it, it left an impression on them, long after the story was over.

That’s what this is all about, right?

Writing books that people love. Touching someone’s heart. Making lasting memories because, for readers, most of the time, reading is an escape. For a few hours, they can immerse themselves in another world. That world can be filled with danger or lies or happiness or gut-wrenching humor. Whatever they’re in the mood for, there’s a book out there that should satisfy what they’re craving.

When I wrote Dear Maggie, it never occurred to me that it was going to be a romantic comedy. I started with an idea that blossomed over and over again. At first, it felt like I was putting my main character, Lauren, through some crazy s**t just for fun. Once the story really started to come together, I saw the bigger picture.

Sometimes in life, there are moments that define you. The moments that defined Lauren’s life in that book led her to her HEA. A few of those moments had me in stitches. (Yes, her face landing in someone’s crotch on a first date defined her.)

A month ago when I found out Dear Maggie was a 2018 RONE (Reward Of Novel Excellence) Award nominee in the New Adult category I almost broke down in tears. I love my characters. I love their journeys, but Lauren’s was especially fun for me.

Voting for the New Adult category begins today and ends Sunday, May 13. If you’ve read and loved Dear Maggie as much as I have, I’d appreciate your vote. There are 11 nominees and only 4 will move on to be finalists.

“Dear Maggie” is an exciting read, with a very original idea. Lauren is a character readers will love to love. Her adventures — as she fills in for the vacationing love columnist and conducts her “research” — are hilarious. Each chapter begins with a letter to Maggie asking for her sage advice, which dovetails nicely with Lauren’s budding romance with Kyle, a love interest from her dating service. A smooth and enjoyable read from beginning to end, author Rachael Brownell has penned a winner!  Cuddle up in front of the fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy the time spent with Lauren and her friends.  – InD’Tale Magazine Review, Crowned Heart review

2017 in review

So many amazing things happened in 2017 for me, and I hope for you too. Here are my highlights from 2017…

Events

I had the opportunity to attend some great events this year. Four main events stand out for me: Roanoke Author Invasion, Once Upon a Book, Penned Con and Great Lakes Book Bash.

I’ll be attending Penned Con (September) again in 2018 and possibly Once Upon a Book (August).

New Releases

I was able to release THREE novels this year as well as FIVE novellas. WOW! I hadn’t really counted the number of books I’d released until now and seeing as how I released eight books in 2017, my goal for 2018 doesn’t seem as hard to achieve now.

Here’s a list of books I released this year in case you missed one.

Chasing Fate

Sticks & Stones

Losing Chelsea (book 2 in the Love & Loss duet)

Dear Maggie, Love Advice Series

Dear Maggie Love Advice Novellas (4 books)

As of this morning, the Love Advice series is now available to purchase as ONE e-book – all five parts. The price is still set to $2.99 and will remain that way until 1/29/18. After that, it will go up to $4.99. Snag it now and save a couple bucks!

Dear Maggie was reviewed by InD’Tale Magazine in December and received the coveted Crowned Heart along with a great review.

Readers

There are so many amazing readers that I had the opportunity to meet this year and even more I had the chance to catch up with at events. Meeting readers, whether they’ve read my books before or not, is my favorite part of this gig. It makes the hours spent in my office, plotting and planning, worth every second.

There is ONE reader in particular that I have been friends with for years that I FINALLY had the opportunity to meet this year and that person is Kandy G. She lives in the same state as I do and yet we hadn’t been able to connect until GLBB this year.

Authors

WOW! To say that I’ve been blown away by other authors this year is an understatement. The kindness within the Indie community is mind-blowing. From authors participating in my release events to those that share posts for sales and cover reveals, each author I’ve connected with this year has supported me and I’ll never be able to thank each one of them enough.

One author group, in particular, comes to mind when I think of thanking author – Alessandra Torre Inkers. Everyone in this group is helpful and supportive and I’m so happy I’m a part of it.

One of the highlights of this year in regards to fellow authors… I had the privilege of meeting both Jamie McGuire and Rachel Van Dyken at Penned Con. If you know me at all, you know I’m a HUGE fan of both these ladies. Here’s a pic of Rachel and I. (I’m the awkward looking one on the right.)

Personal Life

This past year I celebrated 12 years together with my husband and one year of being married. The honeymoon phase has long been over for us but we are still finding new ways to enjoy each other’s company. Speaking of honeymoons… we’re in the midst of planning ours. We put it off after the wedding and with eight books scheduled to release in 2018, we’re thinking January of 2019, possibly Hawaii! I’m stoked and he’s pretty much letting me make most of the decisions… for now.

That’s my year in review. I’ll make a separate post for what 2018 holds because there’s a lot about to happen and the new year is only 3 days away! If you’ve read this far, I’d love to hear the highlights of your year. Comment below if you’re willing to share.
