Free books!

There’s no shame in liking to read as many books as you can for free, as long as you’re getting those free books through legitimate channels. (AKA not pirate sites) Because I’ll always be a reader first, I try to make sure I can offer books free or at a discount as often as possible. ATM I have THREE books you can download for #free.

Holding On

This is the first book in the Holding On series. It’s also the first book I ever publish. The series is young-adult with characters that are in high school in book 1, college in book 2 and living their adult lives in books 3 and 4. The characters grew and mature throughout the series and I think my favorite book is the last book as you get to see how life turns out for everyone. You can snag Holding On from the following platforms

Amazon USAmazon CAAmazon UKAmazon AU

Barnes & NobleiBooks

Rumors: Emerson & Ryder

What? The first book in the Rumors series is free already? But it’s only been out for 7 months! Yep, you read that right. If you search for it on Amazon, you’ll see it for $2.99. However, if you have the special link for BookFunnel you can download it for free. It’s my gift to you. There are only 100 copies available so if you haven’t started the series and want to, I’d snag it now.

Rumors: Audra & Jason

Never heard of these people. Who are they?

Well, after I completed the Rumors series I felt like Audra, Justine’s roommate, had her own story to tell. She’s not part of the Dixon family so instead of adding another book to the series, I’m writing a newsletter only novella. In order to read her story, you have to be a subscriber. If you do sign up, make sure you send me a message using the Contact page here and I’ll get you caught up. Chapters 1-3 have already gone out and Chapters 4 and 5 hit inboxes on Monday.

Those are my freebies. What books have you found, free or otherwise, that I should check out? Comment below.

Who doesn’t love a FREE book?

The answer is nobody.

I’m no exception to this. I love to read and when I see that an author has a book that’s free, I immediately get my one-click on. In fact, I have three or four books on my Kindle right now that are waiting for me to read and if I remember right, two of them were freebies.

So why do authors give away their hard work for free? It’s simple. We love our readers and it’s a small token of our appreciation. At some point in time you took a chance on me. You had probably never heard of me before. My book may have been recommended to you by someone or you may have stumbled on it by chance. Either way, you took a chance on me and my work. I appreciate that more than you will ever know.

That’s the biggest reason why authors run sales, hold giveaways and from time to time, make their books free, either permanently or for a period of time. Me? I have two that are prema-free and four others that are free to Kindle Unlimited subscribers.

Why am I talking about free books? Well, the last time I posted about my free books there was only one and now there are SIX! Plus, we have some new faces that follow the blog and I thought they might want the deets on the freebies. So, here’s my small token of appreciation to all of you for taking a chance on little ‘ol me.

It’s over and I mean it this time

The most rewarding feeling you get as an author, in my opinion, is when a reader reaches out to you, or leaves you a review, and tells you how your book touched them, inspired them, etc. I read every review, even the ones that trash my books. Why? Because I want to learn from them, grow as a writer, and give readers the best book that I can each and every time.

The 2nd most rewarding feeling you get as an author is when you type the two words that send you on a journey that is both scary as hell and exciting at the same time. THE END!

I just did that^^^

I typed those two little words!

I finished another book!

Now, the journey begins… I can’t wait for Brad’s story to be in your hands. I hope everyone loves the conclusion to the Holding On series. I thought it was complete a year ago after releasing Ethan’s novella but people kept asking what happened to Brad. I couldn’t leave my readers in limbo.

You shall be in limbo no longer… well, not after June 9th at least.

Interview with Author Jo Michaels!!!

One of the most fun parts of being an author is attending the cons. I am a very shy person but I still love the atmosphere and the opportunity to meet the readers and authors that attend. Last summer, I had my very first BIG signing in Nashville – UtopYA. I had the privilege of meeting the wonderful Jo Michaels, amongst many other, while I was there. I also have the privilege of being a part of UtopYA again this summer!

A little bit about UtopYA…

  • The conference continues to grow, this years its 4 fun-filled days!
  • When you leave you feel like you are leaving your family behind. A family full of people who love the same things that you love – reading and books!
  • Everyone that goes has a TON of fun. I cannot even begin to describe how much fun it’s going to be this year.

If you want more information on the con, check out their website here. This years theme is “Write your own future.”

Jo is not only an author but also a blogger and she as been doing features on all the authors that are attending this summer. My turn is next and I’m excited to share is with all of you. Let me just say, Jo asks some great questions.

So, if you are interested in checking out my interview with Jo, click here. FYI – I have a Rafflecopter giveaway that will be going on too.

That’s all for now.

I may have shared a little bit about my “Super Secret” project with Jo in case your interested…

A view from the OTHER side

Well, I’ve finally decided that there will be a new addition to the Holding On family!!!

Yes, Brad will be getting his own book.

There have been a number of you that have been asking for his story, wanting to know how he ends up, where he goes and what he does. I guess I’m a people pleaser because that’s exactly what I’m going to give you. Every exciting moment that happened between him and Becca. The “behind the scenes” look into why he reacted the way he did to the things that happened. You’re going to see what drove him to move across the country and what drove him to lock himself in the bathroom with Becca.

Oh yeah! You’re also going to find out how his story ends. I think that’s what is the most exciting part for me. I get to write where I want him to end up, who I want him to end up with and where I want his relationship with Becca to go. I have no idea how it’s going to end at the moment but I get excited just thinking about all the possibilities.

I almost forgot!

You probably want to know what it’s going to be called, right?

Flawed Reality: Brad’s Novella

Coming End of Summer 2015

The final book in the Holding On series (maybe – I’ve said this before)

Holding On series, Uncategorized

It’s LIVE! The Holding On series is complete.

The Holding On series is finally complete.  I couldn’t be more excited to share it with all of you.  There have been ups and downs, twists and turns, heartache and heartbreak throughout the series and this book will be nothing short of all those things combined.

Cover Only (1) The Holding On series book 3

“I promise to love you until the day I die.  I’ve loved you since the moment I laid eyes on you, and I’ve never stopped loving you.  The moment I left was the worst moment of my life.  I was angry and confused, but I still loved you.  I loved you then, I love you now, and I’ve loved you every moment in-between.  That’s what I can promise you, that’s all I can promise you.”

Ethan fell in love with Becca fast and he fell hard.  When he walked away he was sure that he lost her.  When Natalie died, he was given a second chance.

Ethan has always been honest with Becca, but there is one thing that he’s never told her.  His secret comes to light as the final chapter of their story is told through Ethan’s eyes.

Written from Ethan’s perspective, you get to see a little bit of books one and two, through Ethan’s eyes.  You will relive some of Becca and Ethan’s highs and lows.  You get to get inside his head and find out the secrets he’s been keeping all these years… and see if their relationship will be able to survive.

Please keep in mind that Weakness is a NOVELLA.  It is short – only 105 pages.  It was meant to be.  I could have started from the beginning and rewritten the entire series from Ethan’s perspective but instead only hit on some of the highlights from the first two books.  It is, and will always be, 99 cents (unless I run a sale where it’s free).  The story line moves quickly but once you hit the final few pages, you’ll be wanting to know how it all ends.  I hope you love it.  I didn’t know how it would end until I wrote it and I feel like I left them right where they needed to be.

The series is meant to be read in order.  Since this is the final book, I thought that it would be appropriate to discount books 1 & 2 for those of you that are just starting the series.  ONE WEEK ONLY!  Holding on will be just 99 cents and Unglued will be $1.99.  That means that you could get the entire series for less that $4.

Happy Reading!

Time for a Takeover!!!

For the first time ever, I will be taking over a blog on Facebook.  #soexcited  So, here’s the deal…

Monday, Feb 17 from 8-10pm EST

I will be taking over So Many Books, So Little Time Book Blog.  Amanda has been amazing from day one and a HUGE supporter of me and my work.  I am honored to be taking over her blog.  Not to mention, honored to be the very FIRST author to ever take over her blog.

It’s going to be a lot of fun.  Make sure you mark it on your calendar, set a reminder in your phone, etc.  You aren’t going to want to miss the fun and excitement that I have planned.  We’re talking flash giveaways, games, a little Q&A, etc.

You should probably pop over to their site and show them some love if you haven’t already by clicking on the like button.  They are getting close to 6K likes… let’s get them there together!

One last thing, I just finished up running a sale on A Secret Life.  It was just 99 pennies on Amazon for five days!  I hope everyone got their copy because you can’t really beat that price.  While the sale was running I decided to do a little book trailer to help promote it.  Since FB is blocking most of my posts – NO I WILL NOT PAY YOU TO SHOW PEOPLE MY POSTS – I thought that I would post it here so that everyone could get a glimpse.

Click HERE to watch the book trailer for A Secret Life.

Have a great week everyone.  Don’t forget to pop in and say hello while I take over Amanda’s blog next Monday.

Editing, Editing and more… Editing!

So, I spent the ENTIRE day – and when I say that I mean from about 10:30am until about 9pm – in my office, on my computer, drinking some form of caffeine, reading through the final draft of Unglued.  Fixing the minor errors that I found.  Wondering how I missed some of the simplest things the first round of edits.  Like, how is it that the word “it” shows up sometimes where the word “is” is supposed to be?

There weren’t a bunch of mistakes – thankfully!  There were enough that I want to read it one more time just to make sure that I got everything.  I think I make about 30 corrections.  Totally worth the loss of an entire day off from work.  My house is trashed and I’m sure that there is at least a few loads of laundry to do, but when I crawled in to bed last night, the only thing I could think about, the only thing I felt, was a sense of accomplishment.

So, here’s where we’re at…

Unglued Cover HD

I should get the final proof – no more changes to be made – back in a few weeks.  Once I sign off, the book will be available at the Tate bookstore online here.  I will have an official release date that I will be able to announce where it will become available on Amazon and at online retailers such as Barnes and Noble.  As soon as I have that date – you will have that date!

Remember, this is BOOK 2 in the series.  If you haven’t read Book 1 – Holding On – then you might want to get on that.  Unglued won’t make a lick of sense, you won’t understand the characters or the plot, if you haven’t read Holding On.  Where can you get it?  Here are all the links:

If you happen to buy it and read it, I could use some reviews (hint hint).

A Secret Life, Blog, Holding On series, Uncategorized

It’s been a while.

So, I know that it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything.  In a way that’s good – that means that I’ve been writing and spending less time horsing around on Facebook and such.  In a way it’s not, though, cuz that means that you’ve been kept out of the loop.

Not a lot is going on right now.  After self publishing A Secret Life I’ve been busy promoting it, doing giveaways myself and contributing to giveaways that others are doing.  I’ve been focused on getting my name out there and generating interest.  It’s a lot of work.  It’s almost like having a full time job when you really put everything into perspective and I already have one of those.

So, here’s the latest:

A Secret Life is available for Kindle here and in paperback here and here.  This book is a stand-alone novel which means that it ends on the last page.  There’s no cliff hanger.  Once you read the last line it’s over.  I intended it to be that way but I still feel like there might be just a little bit more to tell.  I’m working on a project right now that could be considered a spin-off from A Secret Life.  Some of the same characters will be present but the story line is different.  I’m working on it every day right now and I’m not even sure that I’m going to continue with it some times.  If I do finish it and love it once it’s done then it will be self published as well.

Holding On (book 1 in the Holding On series) was released on 12/2/2013 and is available here (paperback & nook book) and here.  Amazon seems to have the best prices right now for paperback and eBook.

Unglued (book 2 in the Holding On series) is in the final stages of production.  The book itself is actually becoming a book right now and I should have my proof copy around the middle of January.  Once I’ve perfected that as much as possible – because those that know me well know that I am OCD about some things and this would be one of them – then that will be available here.

Weakness (book 3 in the Holding On series) is going to be self published.  I am planning on putting that out about a month after Unglued is released so that people don’t have to wait very long.

There may in fact be a book 4 in the Holding On series.  I haven’t started writing it yet.  It’s still just an idea stuck in my brain at this point.  If you’ve been paying attention to my Facebook posts then you may have seen that I was interested to know which male character you wanted to hear more from.  Which story you wanted from a different perspective.  The majority of people wanted to hear Ethan’s story – that’s book 3.  Some of you wanted to hear Brad’s story.  If I write a book 4 – BIG IF – then it would be from Brad’s’s perspective.

So, that’s what happening right now.

Not much, really.

The process of getting published is slow and the process of writing is even slower if feels like.  I’ll TRY to post more often so that you know where my head is at and what’s going on.  Until then…
